Seek & Find with Freddie and Ellie Santa’s Workshop

By: Eleonora Barsotti

Seek & Find with Freddy and Ellie Santa’s Workshop is an adorable activity book for children. This book is filled with stickers and links to coloring pages. Each page is bright, colorful and full of little details. While some of the items will be easier to find for older readers, the entire family will have loads of fun.

I signed up to honestly review a copy of this book, via the publisher: Fredric Thomas Children’s Books.

New Year’s Eve

I, along with most people I know, am happily saying goodbye to 2022. I hope for all of you that all the negative stays in 2022.

As I welcome 2023 with open arms, and hopes for healthier times, I will be reading 3 very different books.

1. Fractured by Thomas Kelso. This is a medical thriller with stem cell research, Navy Seals, and a whole lot of intrigue. This author will be at a Moveable Feast on January 10th.

2. The Last Dreamwalker by Rita Woods. This one was on my wish list for some time. It is set on an island off the SC coast and involves the Gullah-Geechee culture. Historical and modern day weave two captivating tales.

3. Carolina Moonset by Matt Goldman. I was a wee bit hesitant to read this book since it deals with a man coming home to care for his father, who suffers from dementia. However, it comes highly recommended and promises to have some unique twists.

For those setting reading goals in 2023, I recommend starting low and building yourself up. It can be disheartening to not meet your goals, and reading should be all about enjoyment.

What are you reading during this transition weekend?

Read It Before You See It…

Today, I learned that The Christie Affair by Nina de Gramont is being turned into a movie for 2023! I think this will make a fantastic film. Have you read it yet?

I also learned that Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent series is going to be a TV series in a few weeks. This should be great fun for thriller fans.

What book would you like to be seen on tv or film?

A Quote to Begin December…

“May and October, the best-smelling months? I’ll make a case for December: evergreen, frost, wood smoke, cinnamon.”

~Lisa Kleypas, Love in the Afternoon

I saw this quote and loved it. I know the famous craze is all pumpkin all the time, but for me… Cinnamon. I used to make extra cinnamon snickerdoodles with my grandfather, I used to be able to smell snow the night before, Christmas trees smell delightful… I am all for December and the magic that is winter.

Current Read

Last night, I started reading Girl in Ice by Erica Ferencik. Six chapters in, and I am riveted. This author has written a few other books, but this is the first time I have read her work. Have you read any of her books?

The King of Pawleys

By: David Bernstein

Peter and his brother, Sammy, have been coming to Pawleys Island for the last 5 years. One fabulous week of fun, sand, and sun. Peter looks forward to the beach and the family traditions every year… it is the best part of summer. This year, the family has new neighbors, and Peter and Sammy meet a girl named Ali, so things are looking up for Peter. However, when Ali’s older brother is attacked in the middle of the night, nobody seems to know who did it. Will Peter, Ali, and Sammy find the real bullies of Pawleys, or will this adventure be too much to handle?

This book is chocked full of everything Pawleys, from the scenery and activities to the legends and lore. The gratitude and love of the island shine through the author’s words. This chapter book is ideal for middle grade students. Anyone who loves to read mysteries, chase the bad guys, and stand up for what’s right, will love this story.

Notes:

I honestly reviewed this book for My Sister’s Books.
