Happy February!!!

Hi Everyone,

Happy February! The last two weeks of January, saw me battling a 3 day migraine, and then my allergies had my throat beyond swollen for half a week. I am finally starting to feel human again, you know, just the normal aches and pains, instead of all that added stuff! So that means I am diving back into books. In the next post, I will be asking a very serious question…

In the meantime, I want to know what you all have read this year? Last month, I listened to four books, a medical memoir, a teen romance, a middle grade book that dealt with the incorrect justice system, and a thriller that still has me pondering on where that ending could have possibly come from. (More on each of these, this week.) What did you read? Did you have an absolute must-read? Did you have a book bust that just didn’t meet your standards?

Today, is also Super Bowl Sunday, so Ozzy and I have the Puppy Pregame action on tv, while we dig through books. I will be working tonight, so we are going to get our cuddles on early.

So share with me the books that I need to add to my wish list, and then check back in an hour to answer a very serious question that all readers face in life.

Enjoy!

Cover Reveal!!!

Hello Everyone,

One of my favorite, favorite authors has a new book coming out this Spring. Here’s a look at the cover:

Doesn’t this book look like a fun adventure?

I have read both series by Mary Alice Monroe, one children’s book, one stand-alone, and I am slowly working my way through the rest of the stand-alone novels. I just love the fun vibe of this cover.

What do you think? Is this book already on your wish list? How many Mary Alice Monroe books have you read?

Reading Group Reads

Hi Everyone,

Over the weekend, I shared my first reads of 2020. (I already finished one and I cannot wait to share the review with you all.)

Today, I wanted to talk about my Reading Group books. I am in three Reading Groups and every now and then, I read very similar books for them. However this month ties in perfectly to my belief of a very well-balanced current read shelf.

There’s a spooky thriller with Winter People by Jennifer McMahon. A fantastic dive back into time, with The Girl Who Came Home. And lastly, a nonfiction book dedicated to helping you reconfigure ways of working, called Brave New Work by Aaron Dignan.

What’s your Reading Group reading this month?

Happy New Year!!!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a peaceful and fun New Year’s Eve. We did our usual party in the bathroom to hide from fireworks. But this time, we played Christmas music instead of opera.

Now that the new year has begun, it is time to start diving into all those great books that are stacked up. (I set my Reading Goal to 85, but I am hoping with accurate tracking this year, I can crush that goal.)

So what are the very first books of 2020:

Libro.fm audiobook: Five Feet Apart by Lippincott. (Started the night before last and I am already at 44%. I am loving this book!!!)

First hardback: Me by Elton John. I am especially excited to start this one, because Mom and I will be reading it together this month.

First paperback: You are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I love a good psychological thriller. I enjoyed their first one and thought the second one was petty. I am looking forward diving into this one, because it sounds like it should be an exciting read. (Ozzy and I are struggling to get through the first book of the new home, so we shall pick it up later, after this one.)

First ebook: Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. I was on the waiting list for months, and months, and months, with the local library. I hope this one is worth the wait. I think it shall provided enough lightness and chuckling, amidst the more serious reads.

What are your first books of 2020??? May the year be filled with good health, happiness, and great books!

Office Update #2

The furniture has arrived! All the books are in this house. (They are not even close to being in this photo.)

Furniture is here! Let the book organizing party begin!

Throughout January, I will share photos of all the books finding their home.

In the meantime, let’s discuss reading goals. I originally set mine for 50, and passed it. So I upped it to 75. I am just 6 books shy of completing it! How are you doing with your 2019 reading goal?

The Serious Goose

By: Jimmy Kimmel

This is a cute family book. While listening to the audio, read by the author, I pictured the episode I Love Lucy, where she tried everything to get the Buckingham Palace guards to crack. It is up to children, young and old, to act as crazy as possible in order to get this very serious, non-smiling goose, to laugh. Will readers be able to succeed? I definitely think families will enjoy a few moments of silliness, as they read this book together.

I love a good deed book, no matter the genre, no matter the age. As some of you may know, Jimmy Kimmel has been a strong supporter of children’s hospitals and correcting the healthcare system. His proceeds from this book will be helping children’s hospitals across the country.

Notes:

I signed up to receive an ALC from Libro.fm. My review is completely honest and entirely my own thoughts.

New Beginnings

Hi Everyone,

Over the weekend, my family moved into our new home. Later today, I will share the first photo of what will be my office, and hopefully by the end of the year, I will be able to show you all the completed office. (There are A LOT of books to unpack!)

In the meantime, I am in the spirit of new beginnings and freshening things up. You will see some changes over the course of the next few weeks, on this site and on social media pages. You see, as I may have mentioned before, Ozzy (whom I love with all my heart) is not the type of dog to sit idly by, and help me with reviews and computer work. He is the type of dog to hog the keyboard and keep flopping books, in order to get both of my hands, and eyes on him. However, he does love a good audiobook, so my sneaky self is trying to keep him calm for short bursts with the help of audiobooks. (His music is for fireworks, and extreme times of stress.)

Plus, I find myself at a crossroads as well, social media is ever changing and ever evolving. Therefore, on this site I will only be posting reviews of books that I feel are absolutely incredible and must-reads. Anything that I read that doesn’t quite make the cut, will be briefly reviewed on Goodreads. (For instance, https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3069215017 ) Instagram and Facebook will be stocked full of photos, including the epic journey of rediscovering ALL of my books!

Long story short, there will be a lot more fun on this site and on my social media pages. The stress of these last few years, deviated how I read, and I am looking forward to finding the fun, not just in books, but in life, too. Make sure to check back for updates on new reviews, reading groups, enewsletters, giveaways, and so much more!

Enjoy!

Reading Challenges

The last few years, I have failed my Goodreads Reading Challenge… due to various reasons. It disturbed me each time that I did not read 100 books. (Bah humbug, right.) Well this year, I set my goal for 50 (an internal battle was waged and I leaned towards the positive side) and I am thrilled to announce that I succeeded in hitting my goal!!!

Libro.fm has helped me tremendously this year. Out of the 50 books that I have read, 19 were audiobooks that I listened to in the car or while working on the computer. (I used to hate car rides, because I could never read and no there is an excellent solution… audiobooks!!!) Having always been a reader, I trained myself by starting with middle grade or children’s books and have worked my way up. I love that I can squeeze in more new-to-me authors.

Goodreads Challenge

Now, I am currently finishing several books that I have started this year and updating this site and Goodreads. So my big question is… How many books do you think I will finish before the clock strikes on 2020???

How are reading goals looking for 2019?
