One month ago today, my heart shattered, when Jagger gained his Angel Wings. For the entire month of August, I did not read a single book. I had a difficult time working on the computer. He was always my lovely assistant. He would be in my lap, while I read, or at my feet, when I was at the desk. I didn’t realize how much my heart would hurt, just by trying to work on the computer or even simply read. I miss him more than words can express. I love Ozzy dearly, but he is not an assistant. He has need a lot of extra TLC and reassurance that somehow we will all get through this together. He pushes books and the laptop out of the way, he needs for the focus to be on him. And I have devoted every second to giving him all my love.
Which brings me to this week. Hurricane Dorian. Ozzy sensed the weather changes, before Dorian even reached the Florida coast. He was anxious, and had me quite scared that we were building into a seizure. Yesterday, Dorian came as close to our coast, without making landfall. Places I work, travel, or grew up calling my second home, took on a lot of water or are under it. Here though, where Mom, Ozzy, and I bunkered down. We are safe. Yesterday, Ozzy was the calmest he has been all month. (I even took two naps, which is huge, seeing as I haven’t slept in a month.) We are blessed.
In the chaos leading up to the storm, with everything shutting down, and his meds not being delivered, we found a new-to-us pharmacy that welcomed us with smiles, and complete understanding that the storm prep prevented his seizure meds from being delivered. I found a pharmacy to transfer all his scripts too, once the dusts settles next week. Today, the three us walked outside and were surrounded by butterflies, chirping birds and bright skies. We are blessed.
I, also, began to read during this hurrication (as some like to call it.) I finished my first book and it felt good. You see, today, was National Read a Book Day, so I spent a good portion finishing the book I started for this storm. Now, I read a heck of a lot slower than normal, but I still read an entire book! Whew. I am grateful to Jagger, who assisted us from above, during this stressful week, who kept his brother calm, and allowed my mind to read again.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone, especially those in the Bahamas, who were affected by this slow-moving, devastating hurricane.
“Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.”
~Kurt Vonnegut
I am always a firm believer that it is always best to find the positive and laugh, because what else are you going to do, under all of life’s stressors. I will admit, these last few years, I have had a heck of a lot of trouble seeing those positives and laughing about everything. I am working hard to refocus, because it has been long-proven that stress is just going to continue to build. Hopefully a few books this week shall distract, as well.
Hi Everyone,
Last week, my sweet, sweet Jagger gained his Angel Wings. As I returned to working on the computer this week, my heart is still unbelievably broken. Jagger has always been my lovely assistant. He would curl up under my desk, while I worked, or he would lay in my lap, while I read. I know he is assisting me, from up above, but I am still at a loss here on earth.
Ozzy and I will be attempting to read this weekend and I am sure that won’t be the same, either.
When you lose someone so dearly, even the simple things, like reading a book, are forever changed. It happened after Daddygran’s passing, when I went on a long hiatus, only to find a groove and my website crashed. Now that Jagger is by Daddygran’s side… I am trying to find my new path.
Rest in Peace, my sweet buttercup. You are loved beyond words.

(Charles Lennox #0.5)
Charles Lennox is trying his hand at being a detective. Not for money, but for the delight in using his talents to help others. However, when the Duke of Dorset calls upon him, he wonders if he may have chosen the right trade. Lennox knows that London has a dark side, but he is baffled by the missing portrait of the Dorset’s relative. Surely there were more important things for a thief to take, but as Lennox continues to press the details, he finds himself caught up in an intricate plot surrounding a decade’s old secret and… Shakespeare, himself!
Charles Finch has provided a fascinating mystery for fans of historical fiction and detective series. Both Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes would be proud of all the twists and turns throughout this story. The Vanishing Man is a prequel to a well-established series that will have readers hooked by the first chapter. Historical London comes alive, in the pages, and readers will feel like they are walking the streets with Charles Lennox. Charles Finch is a definite must-read author!
