Favorite Way to Read?

  • Paperback
  • Audiobook
  • Hardcover
  • Ebook

Though I love the look of hardcovers, they have grown more difficult to hold, especially at night. I love the ease of ebooks, but miss turning the pages. I do enjoy having at least one current read in each format.

Which format do you prefer?

Friday Book Pairing

Today, I am reading The Fog of War by Michelle Jabes Corpora, illustrated by Thy Bui.

While my full review will be this weekend, I was immediately was reminded of Love and Ruin by Paula McLain. These two would make for great readings, and discussions with children and adults.

What other book pairings do you recommend for children and adults to read?

Current Read

Today, I received some cool book mail. (More on that later.) Thanks to Pushkin Press, I received two historical fiction books for children. They are part of the True Adventures series. At first look, I would group them in the same categories as I Survived, and Nonfiction Magic Tree House. These seem to be more biographical. I am diving into one tonight. Tomorrow, I have a pretty important blood draw. So a children’s book is just right for tonight. I love that there seems to be a greater variety of historical novels for younger readers.

Are you a fan of historical fiction?

A Poem for the November Night…

“November comes

And November goes,

With the last red berries

And the first white snows.

With night coming early,

And dawn coming late,

And ice in the bucket

And frost by the gate.

The fires burn

And the kettles sing,

And earth sinks to rest

Until next spring.”

Happy November!

November 1st is National Author Day!

November is also known as NaNoWriMo. National Novel Writing Month. So dust off your quills, because we might have a challenge in our enewsletter this Friday.

Plus, there are really exciting books being released this month. Which one are you most excited about?

Last month, I fell very, very shy of my 31 reviews goal, due to health and life. This month, I already know I have 8 very important doc/testing appts. (Plus whatever else they add on, as they tend to do.) My goal will be more realistic this month… 10.

How was your 1st day of November? Are you excited for an extra hour of reading this weekend?

Happy Halloween!

So we finally watched Hocus Pocus 2… and I am just going to truly complement the young girls, who played the child versions of Winnie, Mary, and Sarah. They had the nuances of each character down to a T. They were fabulous!

I also enjoyed the Easter Eggs throughout the movie that reminded us all of the classic, first film.

What did you do on this All Hallows’ Eve?

Book Mail

When you go to the mailbox and find not 1, not 2, but 7 incredible books.

I think this Halloween will finally be the year that I read Misery. I have read Jeannerre Walls, Armando Lucas Correa, and Christina Britton. Manuel Rivas, Jessa Maxwell, and Manuel Rivas are all new-to-me.

Which would you read first?
