Today is the release day for the new B. A. Paris thriller, Bring Me Back. Below is my review for this author’s third book. Trust me, you will never guess the ending.
Finn and his girlfriend, Layla, were on vacation 12 years ago, when she disappeared. Never knowing what happened that night, has tortured Finn. He has now found solace in his life and is engaged to Ellen… who is Layla’s sister. The two of them are living an idyllic life, when suddenly Russian nesting dolls begin to pop-up everywhere. The dolls trace back to when the sisters were children and Finn is being taunted by a mysterious emailer. Could this mean that Layla is alive after all these years? If so, where has she been and who will Finn choose in the end?
This book is divided into sections. The first part is entirely told from Finn’s point of view, in the present and through his memories. Then the author brings in a new narrator so readers can hear two sides of the story. The author has a gift for taking readers on a very twisted, winding path. There are several sneaky characters in this book, all of whom readers will suspect at one point or another. The interchanging time periods and narratives keep readers on their toes, as they try to guess the ending.
