The Windy Forest
By: Sherry Jackson
Rhonda is shocked by the news of her aunt’s passing and she is caught off guard by her aunt’s will. Rhonda has inherited her aunt’s beloved cabin and gift shop in the mountains, but there’s a stipulation. Rhonda must live in the cabin for six months, prior to any future sale decisions. There’s just one problem, there a rapist terrorizing the neighborhood, oh and not everyone feels that her aunt’s death was accidental. Rhonda knows she needs to focus on her own safety; however her thoughts can’t seem to avoid her new strong, handsome neighbor, Tom. Will Rhonda and Tom figure out the truth before it is too late?
In her debut novella, Sherry Jackson shows potential as a romantic story-teller. Though the blurb on the back of the book leans more towards a mystery, the focus is on the building romance between Rhonda and Tom. The two mysteries are subplots providing an accelerant to the main storyline. There are numerous sentence structure and diction errors, but readers won’t be strayed from the intrigue. Overall this is a sweet story, with a dash of suspense.
