Hi Everyone,
Happy New Year!!! I am being totally honest here, I actually did a happy dance on the first day of the new year. I mean, really, I don’t think my family could have handled much more from 2013. I am grateful to welcome in the new year. I don’t want to jinx my family, so all I am going to say is that so far, we are happy with the new year and we are looking forward to some of the changes that will occur.
As for me personally, I am looking forward to reading all the amazing books that 2014 has to offer. I set a new Goodreads challenge for 100 books this year, though I plan to at least double that, so long as this year is more pleasant and cooperative. (It HAS to be more peaceful!) (Last year, I read 110 books, which is pretty impressive considering the last 5 months of the year were a complete disaster for my family.) Currently, I am reading Other Systems from The List and will post that review next week. (I will be away from my computer this weekend.) I hope you all are enjoying your new year! Do you have any specific reading plans/goals?
While thinking about how I plan to make the most of this year, and setting out a reasonable reading goal, I noticed other people setting there own challenges and goals. The writing duo of Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey posted an interesting article and poster. They are looking for ebook hoarders, who have downloaded all sorts of free ebooks during the last year, but the books got “buried” underneath all the other books… and well, does this sound familiar? So they have started a new campaign looking for readers who have downloaded Countermeasure or Uncharted, but haven’t read them yet, because of all the other ebooks that they have downloaded. This triggered me to thinking about how many books I downloaded last year, because they were free, but I haven’t seen the titles in quite a while. Plus, I know several other people who seem to be overwhelmed by their ereaders, because of all the free books, that they have no idea where to even begin! So, here’s what I am thinking… How about a challenge for all us? We each try to find 10 books this year, that we have downloaded for free and read them this year. What do you all think?
I just want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. May all of your dreams come true in this new year and may the year be filled with amazing books!
Enjoy!
