BIG Announcement!!!

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time. It is here. Today is Saturday, May 11, 2013 and it is 6:00am EDT and this can only mean one thing… It is time for the BIG Announcement. You all are amazing you know this, right?! I want to thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy this BIG Announcement!

So without further delay…

I can’t believe that a year has gone by since I started this amazing journey. My little dream of finding a way into to the world of literature has grown into something that I could never have hoped for. Thank you all for your support. I am so honored to have each of you following along in this journey. I love being able to read books, write reviews and then talk with all of you about the wonderful books and authors. So on May 25th, 2013, I hope that you all will join me as I begin a three month long celebration party.

Why three months? Well… on May 25th, my blog will turn 1, on June 20th, my first posted book review will turn 1 and on July 27th, my first Indie Author book review will turn 1. Three BIG birthdays/anniversaries!!! And with all that is going on in the world around us, why not celebrate to the fullest. (Besides, who doesn’t love to celebrate good times!)

What kind of Celebration?

Starting on May 25th through July 27th, each Saturday, I will take a look back at some of the books that I have had the honor to review. “A Year in Review” weekly special. On the majority of those weeks, you the followers will get a chance to win some pretty cool prizes, such as bookmarks or ebooks, thanks to the author(s) of the book(s) being Re-Reviewed. Yes, that’s right, there will be 10 weeks with 8 giveaways! But this is only half of the BIG Announcement…

The second half?

This part is extra-special. You see, through May 25-July 31st, there will be a separate giveaway going on. Yes, that’s right another chance to win! This giveaway will be active the ENTIRE time between May 25th-July 31st. For this giveaway, some very generous authors have donated Autographed books, both ebooks and Paperbacks, plus bookmarks. AND… my very favorite and very talented artist friend, Dana Zalesky , has donated an original piece of artwork. So as you can see this giveaway will be BIG!!!

How do you win?

The individual weekly contests will be held like the regular giveaways. (And there will still be those scheduled during this time, too.) All you have to do is leave a comment under that week’s blog post to be entered to win. With the help of Random.org, winners will be chosen and announced the following week. Each contest/feature, will run for a week (Saturday-Friday.)

The BIG giveaway will be a Rafflecopter giveaway, but not just a plain Rafflecopter giveaway. It will be a game… A mixture of Guess the Book from the Quote and a Scavenger Hunt. Bonus points (bonus entries) will be plenty and some will be offered daily!!! You will be able to find the Rafflecopter here, as it will have a page to itself and on Ariesgrl Book Reviews Facebook Page.

(And yes, it is a possibility to win more than one giveaway.)

My goal is to make the next several weeks fun for everyone! I want this to be a true celebration as my way to say thank you to each of you! I hope I have answered any questions you may have, but if not just post a comment below. (However no specifics on authors/books/prizes will be given, just yet.)

So this was my BIG Announcement! I hope you all enjoyed it and that it was worth the wait!!!

Have a wonderful day!
Enjoy!!!

Another year older…

Good Morning Everyone,

Well as of yesterday, I am another year older and I am excited to see what will happen this year.

I look back and think of my previous dreams and goals and I look at today’s reality and realize that though they are different they’re still me. When I was younger, reading was just something I did, like breathing. I read to learn, I read to dream and I read to escape. I even used to dream of what it would be like to be able to live in a bookstore! Now I wake up and read for all of those reasons and more. I created my own path into this world of literature and I get to work with talented authors on a daily basis. I get to read amazing books and share these stories with all of you. Plus, I get to write reviews for the local bookstore. When I think of my future now, the books that have always been in the picture, are no longer in the background, but they are front and center.

Now who wouldn’t be happy with that image in their minds?

Thank you all again for your continued support of this blog and my dreams. I appreciate it.

I hope each of you has a wonderful day, filled with great books and even better dreams!

Friday: I will be attending a Moveable Feast, where author Bill Noel will be speaking.

A Quote to Begin this Special Day!!!

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring–it was peace.”

~Milan Kundera

Hi Everyone,

Today is my boys’, Ozzy and Jagger, birthday!!! They are turning 6 years old today, hence the unique quote about dogs. These guys never fail to light up my world. I will be spending the day with them, but will be back on here late tonight. In the meantime, what are some of your favorite books about animals? I absolutely loved the book, Marley and Me by John Grogan. I highly recommend that book to all animal lovers.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!!

Hi Everyone,

I feel we all should celebrate today by giving thanks to an amazing author… Dr. Seuss! This one man created several worlds that multiple generations have enjoyed. But most importantly he created worlds that intrigued children and encouraged their desire to learn how to read!

My favorites included One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and Green Eggs and Ham. And still to this day, it is a Christmas tradition in my house to watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas! What about you, what were favorite Dr. Seuss tales?

Enjoy!

Exciting Additions and A Birthday…

Hi Everyone,

Let’s start with the birthday: Today is my Grandfather’s 80th birthday and the afternoon will be filled with family, food and presents. This is why I will be posting a LOT of information in this morning post. I apologize in advanced, but I hope you all appreciate the news.

Last week, I experienced some health issues that left me extremely anemic. I was tired and exhausted so I couldn’t do much of anything. (I am doing better now.) Which brings me to change number 1. As you have noticed, I have been posting quotes here lately. I still wanted to let you all know that I am here and still working on reading the books and writing reviews. However on days that I don’t have news or a review to post, I couldn’t figure out what to do, until I saw that first quote. There are some amazingly, talented people out there that can sum up my feelings about literature in just a few words. Thanks to technology, it is a pretty easy process to post a quote that I love. So you can expect to see more quotes and you can find them all under the new category: Quotes. Please note, that these will just be quotes that speak to my soul and can be from anyone or books, plays, etc. I hope you enjoy them!

As all of you know, I started this website to help other readers find new books, to help authors gain exposure, to build a site that all fans of literature can enjoy and to help my family by earning an income, while staying home. Well… yesterday opened a huge door for me and my family and for all of you, too. Yesterday I had an interview at local paperback bookstore. I will be writing book reviews for their store as well as being able to recommend paperback books they should carry. They will be giving me various books of different genres, but mostly written by “unknown” authors. This way they can help their customers find a new author to enjoy. This is an exciting new opportunity, but please don’t worry about the books on The List. I will still be reading and reviewing the books authors and publishers send me and all of my reviews will be posted here. So how is this going to work?

Well for the most part Ariesgrl Book Reviews will remain the same. I will still be on the lookout for authors and publishers in need of a review. (Please let me know if you need a book reviewed!) I will still be reading from The List and I will still be posting my reviews here and on the Other Sites. All of what I have been doing will remain the same, there will just be some extras added here. (Think of them as bonuses.) What are the changes?

I will add a page, that will have all ofthe contact information for the bookstore. It will also have a link to the website, so you can check it out. Over the next few weeks, as I start sending in my reviews they will be posting it on their site with a link to this page. I will add another new page that will list the books I am reviewing for the bookstore. This way you all can see what else I am reading. Then after my reviews are submitted to the store, I will be posting them here and a new Category will be added just for these reviews. The format will be a bit different, in the fact that they will be titled and numbered as bookstore reviews, but I will still give a quick summary and they will not contain spoilers.

I hope you all will continue to join me on this new adventure. If it helps to think of it as just a second job that I now have, that is fine; I promise everything else will remain the same. This is still my website, my reviews and we are still a book-loving community. Please feel free to email me with any questions or you can leave your questions here in the comments section. I promise this is a win-win-win-win-win situation. (A win for the bookstore, the authors, the publishers, you the readers and me.) Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Enjoy!
