I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day. My family and I decided to do a small meal here at home, which turned out for the best… My grandfather fell yesterday, but we are very grateful that he is okay.
As I was cooking yesterday, I was thinking about this past year. It is strange how I can pinpoint the exact week that my family’s life turned upside down. Since the very last few days of June, my family has experienced one heck of a downward plummet. We have lost loved ones and experienced the awful progression of my grandfather’s disease. No matter what we seemed to do to stay positive, each day there was another negative being thrown in our path. I will very happy to welcome next month and the new year with open arms.
Even though, there has been a lot of sadness, pain and negativity… there is still a ton of positives to be grateful for… One thing I am grateful for is this site and all of you. Your constant support has been a reassuring beacon of hope, always showing me there is another world outside of the Alzheimer’s disease… and for that: I am ever grateful. Thank you all for your continued support, even throughout all of my unexpected delays that have occurred these past several months. Thank you all for being one of my bright light/life houses. I hope that each of you were able to spend the holiday with your loved ones and that you all found something positive to focus on and be grateful for.
In the spirit of getting back on track…
Throughout this afternoon, I will be posting the winner of the Stacy Juba ebook giveaway and then I will post the next two reviews from The List and then one from the My Sister’s Books list.
Have a fabulous Friday and if you are out in the stores shopping today, be safe!
Good Morning Everyone,
I am still working on catching up on my reviews. I hope to be able to post 2-3 more today. In the meantime, I was wondering if you all could leave suggestions in the comments below about books that either you, friends or family have read relating to Alzheimer’s Disease. As you know, my grandfather suffers from this illness and I am his 24/7 caregiver, and I have a few friends that are also dealing with similar situations. I am looking for both non-fiction and fiction, so any suggestion is welcome. I appreciate all of your support and thank you in advance for your help.
I hope you all have a terrific Thursday!
How are you? Sorry I have been quiet this past week and a half. The last week of August flew by and left my head spinning. However they were productive on the home front and one major boulder has been lifted off our shoulders. Thank goodness. However, the month of August was wretched for my family and it seems the large amount of stress that existed during that month, has now hit me like a ton of bricks. Either that or an end-of summer flu bug. Yuk! I logged onto the computer today and realized that my absence has caused my emails to back up tremendously. If you are waiting to hear back from me, please know that I am working on getting caught up on all emails today. My deepest apologies for the delay. I also have a review that I need to type up and will hopefully have that posted for you tonight.
I can’t tell you how relieved I was to say goodbye to August and welcome September with open arms. Also, which almost seems like perfect timing for my family, this month is Alzheimer’s Awareness month. Please be aware of the early warning signs and symptoms and please help spread the word, in hopes of a cure. If it runs in your family, take time to make a game plan with your family, just in case, before it is too late. On a lighter note… I am still working with the winners of the Big Giveaway, however, I will be posting the answers to all of the games tomorrow. Thank you all for your patience, understand and your support. You all are amazing. Thank you!
Here’s to a happy and peaceful autumn for us all.
What about you? Are you excited to welcome a change in seasons or do wish to live the last few weeks of summer to the fullest?
As most of you know, I am a full-time caregiver for my grandfather, who suffers from moderate Alzheimer’s Disease. Sadly this past weekend marked another advancement in his illness and sadly what few memories were there are now gone. Needless to say there were many tears shed for many different reasons. However, after my eyes could no longer cry, my mind seem to accept this latest chapter. My heart is still aching, my eyes are tried, but dry and my mind is trying to think things through logically.
On the other hand, even though I have been away taking care of my family, it seems that all of you have been extra amazing. Wednesday, I logged onto Facebook for the first time in a few days to see that the page had gained 47 new followers. Wow! What a wonderful surprise. By Wednesday night, the Facebook page reached over 400 likes. Thank you all so very much. Your support means the world to me. That delightful bit of news brought a big smile to my face and for that, I am forever-grateful to you all. Thank you for giving me a bright rainbow to focus on!
I hope each of you is having a wonderful week! I will be back later tonight with my next review. Thank you all again for your continued support.
