As most of you know, I am a firm believer in helping others and I am always looking for ways to help out. Below you will find information on the causes that are near and dear to my heart. If you are able to help, please click on the links below or at least help me spread the word. Thanks in advanced!
1. World Book Night
I participated in this event in 2013 (you can read about it here) and I have registered to participate again in 2014. This is an organization dedicated to uniting the world through books. It takes place every year on April 23rd, in honor of William Shakespeare’s birthday. It doesn’t cost you a dime to be a book giver, all you have to do is sign-up and hand out books (you are provided a box of 20 copies of a book) in your community on the night of April 23rd. To learn more about this organization and how you can help, please visit their website: http://www.us.worldbooknight.org/ (This link is to the United States’ site, but on the home page is a link for other countries.)
2. Books for Troops
This is a delightful group on Facebook dedicated to sending books to our troops overseas. They are in need of print (paperback or hardcover) books and all genres are welcome. (Including Children’s.) They accept new or gently used books. If you would like to join the Facebook group, click here. If you would like to help or have any further questions, please send an email to Ebony at: BooksforTroops2013@gmail.com
3. Do Good with Goodreads
If you like to use Goodreads to track and organize your books, be sure to check out their Do Good page. As of today, July 13, 2014, I will be participating in the #Pages4Progress Campaign. As I pick new programs to participate in, I shall keep you informed, in hopes that you will join me in helping the world through reading.
Firstbook.org is an organization giving children the gift of reading. They work with numerous schools and groups dedicated to helping children excel in their studies. To learn more about this amazing program, please visit their website.
