BIG Announcement!!!

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time. It is here. Today is Saturday, May 11, 2013 and it is 6:00am EDT and this can only mean one thing… It is time for the BIG Announcement. You all are amazing you know this, right?! I want to thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy this BIG Announcement!

So without further delay…

I can’t believe that a year has gone by since I started this amazing journey. My little dream of finding a way into to the world of literature has grown into something that I could never have hoped for. Thank you all for your support. I am so honored to have each of you following along in this journey. I love being able to read books, write reviews and then talk with all of you about the wonderful books and authors. So on May 25th, 2013, I hope that you all will join me as I begin a three month long celebration party.

Why three months? Well… on May 25th, my blog will turn 1, on June 20th, my first posted book review will turn 1 and on July 27th, my first Indie Author book review will turn 1. Three BIG birthdays/anniversaries!!! And with all that is going on in the world around us, why not celebrate to the fullest. (Besides, who doesn’t love to celebrate good times!)

What kind of Celebration?

Starting on May 25th through July 27th, each Saturday, I will take a look back at some of the books that I have had the honor to review. “A Year in Review” weekly special. On the majority of those weeks, you the followers will get a chance to win some pretty cool prizes, such as bookmarks or ebooks, thanks to the author(s) of the book(s) being Re-Reviewed. Yes, that’s right, there will be 10 weeks with 8 giveaways! But this is only half of the BIG Announcement…

The second half?

This part is extra-special. You see, through May 25-July 31st, there will be a separate giveaway going on. Yes, that’s right another chance to win! This giveaway will be active the ENTIRE time between May 25th-July 31st. For this giveaway, some very generous authors have donated Autographed books, both ebooks and Paperbacks, plus bookmarks. AND… my very favorite and very talented artist friend, Dana Zalesky , has donated an original piece of artwork. So as you can see this giveaway will be BIG!!!

How do you win?

The individual weekly contests will be held like the regular giveaways. (And there will still be those scheduled during this time, too.) All you have to do is leave a comment under that week’s blog post to be entered to win. With the help of Random.org, winners will be chosen and announced the following week. Each contest/feature, will run for a week (Saturday-Friday.)

The BIG giveaway will be a Rafflecopter giveaway, but not just a plain Rafflecopter giveaway. It will be a game… A mixture of Guess the Book from the Quote and a Scavenger Hunt. Bonus points (bonus entries) will be plenty and some will be offered daily!!! You will be able to find the Rafflecopter here, as it will have a page to itself and on Ariesgrl Book Reviews Facebook Page.

(And yes, it is a possibility to win more than one giveaway.)

My goal is to make the next several weeks fun for everyone! I want this to be a true celebration as my way to say thank you to each of you! I hope I have answered any questions you may have, but if not just post a comment below. (However no specifics on authors/books/prizes will be given, just yet.)

So this was my BIG Announcement! I hope you all enjoyed it and that it was worth the wait!!!

Have a wonderful day!
Enjoy!!!

Kitsune Tales Blog Tour!

kitsunetales

Book Blurb:

It’s been centuries since the last Great Other War that plunged the human race into the dark ages. Pulling away from the gods, and other creatures God had sent to watch over them, humans have made a go of it for themselves, trying to find their own path, and in the process they have changed the world from flat to round and created a universe to go with it. The gods, angels and demons are still there, but left behind, ignored, while the humans flourish. But the Others haven’t forgotten the humans….

Ki was content living her quiet, orderly little life on the outskirts of the city pack as a runt. She’d built up her own business as a freelance researcher and while she didn’t have much, she had more than enough for her. Then she wakes one morning to find that two days of her life are missing, supposedly spent with not just one man, but two, and she suddenly has breasts. Not to mention two tails when she shifts. If that isn’t bad enough, her apartment building catches fire and someone in the smoke wants her dead.

On the run, Ki finds herself in strange company, from Gods to mythical creatures, and sorting out who wants her dead from who wants her alive isn’t going to be easy. With a little divine help, and some old friends, she just might make it out of this mess alive, or lose everything before she even knew what she had.

Book Excerpt:

“They’re mad,” Hanners said.
“You would know,” Gage said with a snort.
“No, I’m a little crazy, yes, but there’s a difference,” Hanners said. “Fanatical devotion, even in the face of proof that what they believe is wrong, is madness.”
“A pretty point that doesn’t negate the fact that you’re several watts short of being able to power a light bulb,” Gage said.
Hanners gave him a hard look out of the corner of her eye. “What do you think our chances are?” she asked Oberon.
Oberon cocked his head as if he was listening to something. “Better than they think. Are you ready?”
Hanners gave a nod and Gage grunted. The night seemed awful still right then. It was so quiet that she could easily hear her own breathing and the deep even breaths that Gage was taking. Oberon stood, his body poised in front of them, the ax still on his shoulder, while the point of his sword rested on the ground. He was relaxed and at ease, as if he hadn’t spent the majority of the night fighting like the rest of them had. At least he looked like he’d been in a fight. It wouldn’t have been fair if he was as neat and clean as Gage was. Which posed a very good question.
“How do you do that?” Hanners asked Gage in a hiss.
“What?”
“Not get dirty.”
Gage smiled along the stock of the rifle. “Phase through the dirt.”
“That is so cheating,” Hanners said.
“Steady now,” Oberon interrupted. “Remember what I told you. Do not fire till I give the order.”
Hanners gave a grim nod and tightened her grip on the rifle. Scanning the tree line, she waited with her breath held. The angels came into sight, moving forward with swords at the ready. Crafty buggers, she thought as they slid through the trees. She couldn’t say they hadn’t learned something from the night, because they kept in cover so they couldn’t be picked off quite so easily. They were grouped toether and had added shields, the bastards. Depending on how those ovals were made, this could mean trouble for them. Hanners let her breath out slowly and took a bead on the closest angel.
“Hold,” Oberon said.
Licking her lips, she held, finger a hairs breadth from the trigger. Her temper flared and she reined it in harshly. She would not go over the edge, she wouldn’t. This wouldn’t be a repeat of what happened before. Her heart rate kicked up as the first of the angels cleared the trees and moved cautiously into the open, forming into phalanxes. Again with the Greek stuff, she thought with a roll of her eyes.
“Hold,” Oberon said again.
Hanners wasn’t sure what he was waiting for, but it was obvious he had a plan that everyone else knew, because no one on their side moved to engage. They were ready, of course, she was sure of that, but they didn’t move, just stared down the host of angels that ringed the house. More poured from the tree, moving quickly into their positions though they seemed wary. Still Oberon waited, relaxed, not even watching the angels come. He just stared down at the ground. The angels advanced and his head came up with a snap, as if they had crossed over some type of invisible line, and maybe they had.
Oberon moved so fast that he was a blur. His ax sliced through the air as he spun, arching high before blade struck deep into the ground. The earth bucked in response, a movement that didn’t touch the house, but spread out from it. It ran outward in an expanding wave jostling the angels. When it passed, he looked up with a grim smile.
“Do you know what they called me in olden days?” Oberon asked over his shoulder.
“No,” Hanners said.
He looked at her and smiled. “The Wrath of the Hungry Earth.”

Author Bio:

TJ Rowser grew up on a working farm that left her with plenty of time to explore her imagination while performing lots of physical labor. The older she got, the more that imagination expanded, and the less she liked the hard physical labor aspect. It took too much time away from the stories in head. Working through a string of office jobs, she found her niche in a helpdesk and settled down to raise a family while happily sitting around exploring the worlds that kept springing to life in her mind. When that wasn’t quite enough, she started writing them down and sharing them out, which leads us here, to an author’s page, and a book filled with the characters that knock around in her head on a daily basis. They (the characters) are quite pleased with the result and so is she, since happy characters make for a much quieter mind.

Where to find the author and this book:

Twitter: https://twitter.com/search?q=%40tjrowser2013&src=typd @TJRowser2013

What was the inspiration behind this story?

The idea for this actually started out as a conversation with a bunch of co-workers on lunch one day. The topic was religion and how touchy it is for most people. There might have even been an argument or two in there, the your version of God versus my version of God type thing, and it got me thinking. So, as soon as I got to my desk I jotted the question “What if they were all real?” down and went back to work. It just sort of grew on its own from there, the characters, the story, all of it. There wasn’t ever really a style in mind, just a story to tell.

Good Morning,

Please help me give a warm welcome to author Miranda P. Charles!!! She is here to promote her Lifestyle by Design Series. Book #2 in the series is free on Amazon today and tomorrow only. Be sure to check out the links at the bottom of this post. Miranda P. Charles is giving one lucky commenter Book 1 and Book 3 in the series!!! Contest will run from now until Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11pm EDT. The winner will be chosen using Random.org and the winner will be announced and notified Sunday morning. So without further ado, please welcome Miranda P. Charles:

Hi there! Nicole has kindly invited me to share with you how I started writing romance. (Thanks so much, Nicole!)

If someone said to me twelve months ago that I would be an author of three contemporary romance novels in a year’s time, I would have laughed and snorted in disbelief. That wasn’t even a clear goal in my head.

I write a lot and have done so for years. When I was younger I used to compose poetry and contributed articles to my school’s student newspaper. In the past few years, I have created non-fiction, self-help type materials for my personal development coaching business. But even though I have a fertile imagination and am prone to daydreaming, it never occurred to me to try my hand at writing fiction. Until a certain point in time not too long ago.

Have you had a moment that was unremarkable at the time that it was only when you look back that it hits you how significant it was?

I had that moment early last year. I was feeling a bit low as my business wasn’t the success I was hoping for it to be. The thing was, I gave up a successful corporate career with an above-average salary to be a personal development coach, and to only earn a measly percentage of what I used to earn as an employee was really dragging me down.

So I was in one of those what-am-I-gonna-do moments when I sat down and forced myself to “listen to my heart”. Funnily enough, what it said was sit and read romance novels. At any other time, I would have ignored this thought and would have continued to poke my brain on how I can grow my business further. But my intuition told me to just relax and listen. So I did.

I was already a voracious reader but this time around, I indulged myself and read book after book – some contemporary, some paranormal, some historical but all of them romantic. And when I say ‘indulged’, I meant I took time off working on my business to just read. (Yeah, crazy, wasn’t it? I thought so too at the time.)

Not long after that, another wacky idea occurred to me. What if I try my hand at writing a romance novel? I had this desire to write about love and the hurt and bliss that go with it. I wanted to push my personal boundaries and swear through my characters and describe sex scenes in detail. (Yeah, some of my family and friends would get the shock of their lives if they knew what I’ve been writing lately ;-) ). Most of all, I wanted to give myself a go and see if I could do it.

So one day, I just started typing. Before I knew it, I got caught up in the world of my characters and my first book was born. I thought to myself maybe I was meant to do this after all.

Fast forward to today and the Lifestyle by Design series is complete with three hot and sexy books.

Being a romance novel writer is not an easy journey. But I love it. I’m glad I listened to my heart at that low point in my life. Hand on heart, I love this whole writing fiction thing and I can’t wait to get on with my next series.

I do hope you check out the Lifestyle by Design books and that you enjoy reading them as much as I loved writing them.

As a big ‘thank you’ to Nicole for the opportunity to meet you, her readers, I’ll be giving away a kindle edition copy of Will To Love (Lifestyle by Design Book 1) and Ray of Love (Lifestyle by Design Book 3) to one lucky person.

Why only books 1 and 3? Because Heart Robber (Lifestyle by Design Book 2) is free on Amazon today (April 10) and tomorrow (April 11) for everyone. You may want to grab it while it costs you nothing. Here’s the link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AFNO2W4

Will To Love (book 1) is currently on a price promo of only .99 US cents for a limited time. While each book is a stand-alone novel, I think you would enjoy them more if you read them in order so here’s the link to book 1: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008VSMVUU

Ray of Love, the final book of the series, was recently released to complete your Lifestyle by Design experience. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BSD4DLK

I hope to personally connect with you in the future!

Just as Sylvia begins to experience a profound love that only a mother can feel, a detective approaches Cleo with disturbing questions about the adoption agency. Determined to protect her friend, Cleo jumps into a dangerous investigation that forces her to confront the ghosts of her past.

Bestselling author Tess Thompson, whose debut novel Riversong touched the hearts of readers worldwide, delivers a captivating and suspenseful tale of the possibilities that await us in life and in love – if we can find the courage to get off the sidelines.

What was Tess Thompson’s Inspiration behind writing romantic suspense novels?

My goal is to write plots that move quickly and do not allow the reader to have any reason to put the book down, therefore I weave in mystery and twists and turns. But I’m also most interested in love – its redemptive and healing power, the beauty of relationships and the magical way two people can fall in love. Romantic love is something we all long for, no matter our age or position in life. Regardless, life is still wonderful, but there’s an emptiness without a partner to share this journey with; humans are meant to be in romantic partnership. For this reason, I’m drawn to telling love stories.
I wonder sometimes, though, if part of the reason I write love stories is because it’s been so intangible in my real life. I’ve yet to find my one and only, or as I say in Caramel and Magnolias, my person. Perhaps I’ll write only the suspense part after I finally meet the right person. I doubt it. No, probably not. Love is love, after all.

Giveaway Time!!!

Tess is offering one winner at each blog an e-copy of Caramel and Magnolias and a grand prize of print copies of both Caramel and Magnolias and Riversong. Blurb:
For generations, the Ryhans, ruling family of the Province of Greenwald have been keepers of a sword rumored to possess enough magic to defeat kings. Lord Varthan, a former archduke and betrayer of the king, covets the sword and invades Greenwald.

Lady Ceralda Ryhan, daughter of the murdered duke, gains the sword and flees, trusting only her white wolf, Trikser—magically bonded to her. Cera needs nothing more to aid in her fight.

Jorrin Aldern, half elfin and half human, left his home in the mountains of Aramour to find his human father who disappeared twenty turns before, but finds Cera with Varthan and his shades on her tail instead. His dual heritage and empathic magic will tempt Cera in ways she never thought she’d desire. But can he convince her trust and love can pave the path to redemption or will the epic battle end in tragedy and evil conquer them all?
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13596945-sword-s-call

Want to know more? Here is an excerpt:

Heart pounding and fists clenched, Cera sat in the Dragon’s Lair’s darkest corner. By choice, the candle on the table was unlit. The bowl of stew half eaten, food the last thing on her mind.
The door to the tavern swung open. Her white wolf growled low and deep beside her. Cera glanced up, squinting in the sudden flood of sunlight. As the door slammed shut and her eyes adjusted to the renewed murkiness, she took in the newest arrival.
Then she focused on Trikser. She couldn’t have him going for anyone’s throat.
“Shhh, Trik, it’s okay.” She ran a hand through his fur, smoothing his hackles along the length of his spine. The big wolf looked up at her and licked her hand. One corner of her mouth lifted and she bit back a sigh.
The only reason the owner of the tavern, Marshek even let him in was because no one else was allowed to enter the Dragon’s Lair if she was inside without him. No one according to Trikser, that is. He’d almost taken the hand off the last guy who’d tried.
“What’ll ya have?” Marshek barked, revealing his instant dislike of the newcomer.
She fixed her eyes on the bartender. Then she took a closer look at the man sitting in front of him. His pointed ears betrayed his heritage, but his height suggested he was not of pure blood.
Marshek was known to be tolerant of elves but he hated what he called half-breeds. Cera could imagine what the grumpy, middle-aged tavern owner was thinking, and it wasn’t friendly.
She rose, Trikser also immediately rising, awaiting her move. The white wolf was her bondmate and had been since he was young.
Relax, she thought-sent.
Trik sat, but his body was tight, tense. He didn’t respond to her mental order.
Moving to the bar, her wolf followed, slinking close to the floor, moving in a slight crawl. His belly probably touched the filthy planked flooring of the tavern.
Cera made a face but forced a breath. Detached control. Sliding onto the stool next to the half-elfin man, she was just in time to hear his order. His voice was clear and deep.
Marshek filled a mug with ale and started to put the jug in its place on the shelf.
“Wait, Mar,” she said with a wave of her hand, “I’ll have some of that, too.”
With a curt nod, the older man poured her a mug. She brought it to her lips, glancing nonchalantly at the stranger. His coal black hair brushed the collar of his hooded gray cape, giving him a rather unkempt look, but rugged rather than messy.
Cera couldn’t see the hue of his eyes from her seat but his high cheekbones made his profile appealing, his sleek tapered ears adding to the attraction. His powerful jaw line was clean shaven, an oddity in these parts. She could tell he was aware of her perusal. He was young, not much older than her, and had the stunning beauty of the elves.
His chest heaved as if he’d taken a breath, and he finally glanced at her. Blue. His eyes were a deep, sapphire blue. Her heart skipped a beat but she ignored it. The man said nothing, not that she’d expected him to.

What’s next for CA Szarek ?
Collision Force (Crossing Forces Book 1)
Bad boy FBI agent and feisty widowed police detective collide pursuing a human trafficker in small town Texas on their way to true love.

Badboy, married to his job FBI agent Cole Lucas always gets his man. So when the unthinkable happens and one gets away, Cole grits his teeth and hunts human trafficker Carlo Maldonado all the way to Antioch, Texas, where he collides with Detective Andi MacLaren.

Cole doesn’t do small towns and doesn’t get involved with women he works with, but Andi tempts him in ways he doesn’t want to acknowledge.

Two murders, her partner shot and leading the investigation on her own, the last thing Andi needs a cocky FBI agent that sees her as no more than a tag-along.

Widow and single mother Andi is used to being on her own. When Cole gets stuck without a place to stay, crashing on her couch puts them in dangerous territory.
Attraction and passion bring Andi to a place she’d left behind when her husband died. Her three-year-old son quickly wiggles his way into Cole’s heart, and he starts contemplating things—family, love—that he’d never planned for himself.

Can being forced to work together make them stronger or will their differences jeopardize their case and their hearts?
