Personal Shelves Review

The beginning of October, we had to bury my grandfather. The days leading up to the trip, my mind was scattered and I couldn’t focus on anything. I tried reading different books from The List, but my focus wasn’t there. I tried to watch a movie, but my dvd player was broken. I was stuck… I couldn’t get past my own mind, so I went scrolling through my library on my Nook. I stumbled across this book that I had downloaded for free. It had the promise of a sweet, short romance, so I gave it a shot. Here are my thoughts:

Personal Shelves Review

It can be difficult to read a book from an app on my computer, so several weeks ago, when there were fireworks and I needed my Nook to play Ozzy’s calming music at night, I was wide awake and decided to read an ebook that was on my Nook. My friend Dana, who you may remember designed my amazing logo, recommended the author Kim Harrison to me. A while back, I downloaded the first book in the series, while it was on sale. Here are my thoughts:

Reading Day!

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Did you enjoy the extra hour of sleep last night? My boys didn’t believe in sleeping during that bonus hour, however, thanks to the crisp air they are both curled up snoring right now. With that being said and after the busy week that we have had, I will be joining them in a few moments. My plans for the day will be reading and snuggling up with them all day!!!

I have three books that I will be finishing today. What are your plans for the day? Are you experiencing some unexpected chilly weather too? Whatever your plans may be, I hope you have a great day!

Enjoy!

A Halloween Treat

Hi Everyone,

Happy Halloween!!! I am super excited this morning. I get to attend a luncheon today, where author Diane Chamberlain will be speaking. I can’t wait to hear what she has to say about her latest book. Early last year, I had the pleasure of reading Necessary Lies and that story has stayed close to my heart and mind all this time. (You can read my review of it, here.) I am very grateful for this special opportuntiy.

Have a fabulous Friday everyone! And I hope your Halloween is filled with treats!

Enjoy!

A Quick Update…

Hi Everyone,

During the first week of this month, we were out of town. We went to Va to honor my Grandfather’s life and bury him next to my Grandmother. We spent quality time with friends, blessed that they helped us celebrate my grandparents’ lives. I am forever grateful to our friends.

Now that I am back, there will be numerous reviews posted this week as I get caught up with everything. You may notice a few changes as well, which I hope you will enjoy.

In the meantime, I want to hear how all of you are spending your fine Sunday evening?

I will be finishing a book from The List and the the review will appear later this week.

I wish you all a happy and colorful October!

Enjoy!

What are you Reading?

Hi Everyone,

Tis Sunday, which means I am curled up with my boys reading all day! I just finished A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks and Meena Mouse’s Perfect Raspberry by Trilby Plants. Now, I am about to dive back into The Angel with Burnt Wings by Scarlet Jensen.

What are you all reading on this first Sunday of the football season? (Or are you spending your afternoon, cheering on your favorite team?)
Either way, I hope you all are having a beautiful day!

Enjoy!

What are you Reading?

Good Morning Everyone,

It seems Sundays have become the best day for me to read. So I am grateful to announce that today is once again a Reading Day for me! I will be finishing The Aviator’s Wife by Melanie Benjamin and starting The Angel with Burnt Wings by Scarlett Jensen. As of this minute, I have three reviews pending and will share them with you all starting tomorrow. (Hopefully, I will be able to add another review after today!)

In the meantime, I want to know what you are reading? Has school started back for your family? If it has, what will the students be reading this year?

Hope you all have a spectacular Sunday!

Enjoy!

What are you Reading?

Good Morning Everyone,

Today, the boys and I are feeling a bit under the weather, therefore I have declared today a ‘cuddle, rest and read’ day. I will be finishing Justice Comes After Death by Werner Hoppe and starting The Cards of Life and Death by Colleen Gleason.

How are you spending your Sunday? Are you reading anything exciting?

Have a wonderful day!

Enjoy!

Personal Shelves Review

Hi Everyone,

As you may have noticed, I struggled for quite a bit trying to find my passion for reading and reviewing, after my grandfather passed. (It feels amazing to be back in the world of literature.) While trying to find my stride again, I chose a random book from my nook and started reading it. I just needed something to grasp my attention and light that spark within me again. Thankfully, I picked a fascinating book that helped me find my way and it inspired a new concept for the blog. From time to time, I shall post a “Personal Shelves” review. These will be books that I have had for some time, or that I downloaded for free at one time or another. Now, please don’t expect a lot of these, because my main priority is getting caught up on The List, so these won’t occur often. I hope you enjoy them. Below, you will find my thoughts on a sci-fi, YA book.

Enjoy!

Crewel

By: Gennifer Albin

#1 in trilogy

Adelice Lewys has the gift to weave, but is desperately hiding her talent thanks to the warnings from her parents. Trying to stay hidden from the Guild is difficult, but it becomes impossible when Adelice lets slip her gift during a testing ceremony. Ripped from her family and thrown into training, Adelice knows she has to find a way to escape, but this means she must learn to trust someone on the inside.

I am not normally a fan of sci-fi books, but this is a fun, fast read. I was immediately caught up in Adelice’s struggles. There were very few grammatical errors, while the descriptive details overwhelmed the senses and made it feel as though the world of Arras was displayed before my eyes. I am looking forward to continuing Adelice’s adventures in the next two books.
