Detective Stephy Wephy Holmes in the Missing Cake

By: Josh Rader. Format: eBook. Read: December 2013.

When Stephy learns meatloaf is for dinner, she is not happy. However, her mom reassures her that there will be chocolate cake for dessert, but unfortunately the entire cake is missing! Stephy Wephy Holmes takes on the case and searches the house for clues and the culprit. Will she find the cake in time or will the thief get away with the crime?

This is an adorable picture book for young, aspiring detectives. The drawings are flawless and charming. The story is cute, but difficult to follow due to the fact that pictures are not on the same page as the writing. Stephy Wephy Holmes is determined to find the missing cake, which many children would be too. This book is good for families to enjoy together and to help encourage little ones to read.

I have always loved a good children’s mystery. What about you? Who was your favorite child sleuth?

Enjoy!
